The Alexander McQueen Autumn/Winter 2020 collection is inspired by Wales, by the warmth of its artistic and poetic heritage, by its folklore and its craft. Welsh blankets are referenced in asymmetric chevron checked wool cashmere coats and dresses and tailoring is cut in pieced Prince of Wales worsted check with graphic contrast panels in black wool silk.
The Heart Locket Jewels
The Autumn/Winter 2020 jewellery collection includes pendants, chokers, hoop earrings and rings all inspired by Welsh Love Spoons found during the design studio’s research trip to Wales.
Love spoons were considered a traditional token of endearment and were carved from a single piece of wood. This sentimental theme has been translated into domed heart lockets featuring various symbols, each of them representing a different form of love and fortune bestowed on the receiver. These include the Tree of Life, flying doves and the iconic Alexander McQueen seal which have been assembled on top of the heart lockets in contrasting metal finishes.
The heart lockets are functional and come in three sizes: small hearts hanging from delicate hoop earrings, a medium heart set on an oversized ring, and big hearts as pendants on chokers, and delicate
or thicker vintage-inspired chains.
